About MicroGen DX
Southwest Regional PCR is a CAP accredited and CLIA licensed clinical diagnostic laboratory doing business as MicroGen Diagnostics, LLC as of April 2017.

Specificity for Physicians & Personalized Health Care for Patients

Providing physicians and their patients with the most advanced molecular based microbial testing available.  The laboratory utilizes Next Generation DNA Sequencing technologies to identify causative microbes within patient samples.

The MicroGen DX® system of molecular diagnostics dramatically reduces the chance for errors in specimen collection, handling, stability, and time to analysis.  According to the Guidelines set out by the American Society for Microbiology, microbiological interpretation depends entirely on the quality of the specimen submitted for analysis. The impact of proper specimen management on patient care is enormous. Proper specimen management is the key to accurate laboratory diagnosis and confirmation.  Specimen management directly affects patient care and patient outcomes, influences therapeutic decisions, impacts hospital infection control, impacts patient length of stay, hospital and laboratory costs, and influences laboratory efficiency.  Clinicians should consult our “How to Collect and Ship Samples” sheets for proper sampling techniques.

Health care practitioners, contact us today to discuss how molecular diagnostics provided by MicroGen DX® can bring your practice to the forefront of technological advancement, remove the guesswork of microbes with the infection site, and assistance with targeted treatment options.

Accredited, Highly Reliable, and Fast Molecular Diagnostics Tailored for Your Practice Needs

Testing Options

Next-Gen DNA Sequencing molecular microbial diagnostic tests are offered at MicroGen DX®. In our process analysis of the microbial DNA is extracted from the patient's swab, washing, or tissue sample. The microbial DNA is then analyzed using molecular diagnostic methods. The report contains information about the microbial organisms detected, gene resistance detected, and is accompanied with an Antimicrobial Recommendations Sheet.

Getting Started With MicroGen DX

Sample collection and shipping kits supplied by MicroGen DX® instill quality assurance in diagnostic results by following proper specimen management according to the American Society for Microbiology Guidelines in the following ways:

  1. Ensures that patient specimens are collected, transported, and stored properly
  2. Ensuring that the specimens arrive at the laboratory for analysis as quickly as possible
  3. Minimizes staff training by simplifying and standardizing collection materials
  4. Eliminates the need for clinic to stock perishable sampling supplies

The health care practitioner needs to decide what level of testing is necessary, and order kits to obtain sample collection and shipping supplies. Collect and ship patient samples with the MicroGen DX® sample collection kits, and ship it using the pre-paid FedEx Priority Overnight shipping labels we supply. Results are delivered within 24 hours for PCR Rapid Screening tests from time of receipt, and within 3-5 business days for NGS Level 2 test results.
